Class Spotlight: Musical Theatre — Sing, Dance, Act, Shine

If your child sings into a hairbrush, narrates their own life story or performs the entire school play (all parts) at the dinner table — Musical Theatre might just be their happy place.

What happens in class?

Musical Theatre at Kerry's is triple-threat training: singing, dancing and acting, all rolled into one high-energy session. In a typical class we might warm up with a vocal exercise, learn a routine from a West End show, and work on characterisation — how to tell a story with your face, your body and your voice.

We run three groups so every age gets exactly the right challenge:

Junior Musical Theatre (ages 4–8) — Mondays at 4.30pm at The Umbrella Centre. Playful, confidence-building and full of songs they'll sing all week.

Intermediate Musical Theatre (ages 8–12) — Tuesdays at 4.30pm at The Umbrella Centre. Bigger numbers, harmonies and real stagecraft.

Senior Musical Theatre (ages 11–18) — Fridays at 6.30pm at the Whitstable Swimming Pool dance studio. Audition technique, ensemble work and performance polish.

Why it matters

Kerry trained in Dance and Musical Theatre at the legendary Laine Theatre Arts and has choreographed professional pantomimes across the country — so our students learn real industry skills, taught with warmth and humour. Several of our past students have gone on to train at top performing arts colleges.

But here's the secret: most children don't come for a career. They come because it's the best hour of their week. The confidence, the friendships and the pure joy of performing — that's the real magic.
